Mothers for Democracy / Mothers Against Greg Abbott have been lobbying the House Community Safety Committee aggressively all session long — and it’s working. Just FOUR days after the Mothers Against Greg Abbott Lobby Day at the Texas State Capitol, members of the  House Community Safety Committee voted to raise the age for AR-15 gun purchases from 18 to 21.
We all know that raising the age simply isn’t enough — so we’re ramping up the pressure with our Red Flag Project (see more about it below).
But we also know what a huge victory today really was.
To everyone who called members of the Texas House Community Safety Committee, sent in letters, or testified in person, we just want to say Thank You for showing up for the families of Texas like you all did.
And we cannot stop. Politicians across Texas and the U.S. are not doing enough to keep us safe from Gun Violence. In fact, their answer is more guns.

Mothers for Democracy is here to tell our lawmakers that we have had ENOUGH!

We have marched, we have lobbied, we have protested, and we have finally scored the first victory in a long line of legislative action our families desperately need . Now we need our neighbors to see the impact of gun violence in our state and in our communities.Â
Please join our protest for common sense gun safety and help Mothers Against Greg Abbott post 144 red flags đźš© all around Texas — one for each of the 144 people who died from mass gun shootings while Greg Abbott has been in office.Â

🚩 How many flags should you buy?
Put up as many as you’d like, or even just one. You’re joining a collective action, made up of thousands of people all across the state, so what matters is that you participate. The more people who join with us, the greater the impact our protest will have.
đźš© Where do we want to see the flags?Â

All over Texas! We want to see them in small towns and big cities... We need to show we’ve had ENOUGH!

🚩 When should you display your flags?

To join, please put up your display by May 13. Flags can be purchased on Amazon, at Home Depot, at Lowes, or your local hardware store.
Before Mother’s Day, it’s time to show America what mothers like us want for our kids.
