JOHN,
Last month, I wrote to you about the need to enact common-sense gun safety legislation following the tragic mass shooting at the Covenant School in Tennessee. When I sent you that email in early April, according to the Gun Violence Archive, there had already been over 140 mass shootings in America in 2023.
Now, just a few weeks later, the number of mass shootings in America this year has risen to over 200.1
Every day, lives are lost and families are torn apart because we still haven’t taken the necessary steps to enact common-sense gun safety legislation that would keep all of us safe.
We need to act, and we need to act now.
Congress must take up legislation immediately that bans assault weapons, requires background checks, enacts safe storage requirements, bans bump stocks, and regulates high-capacity magazines.
I want to see this legislation passed immediately, and I need to know if you are with me. Do you agree that we must enact common-sense gun safety legislation as soon as possible? Answer here:
It’s on us to take action to address this ongoing crisis.
Thanks for standing with us,
Seth
