“There is a house in New Orleans…”
The 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival just wrapped yesterday after two weeks of joyful noise played at the Fairgrounds and throughout the music clubs of the Crescent City. I think one of the closing acts on Sunday underscores the essence of Jazz Fest—Mumford & Sons, who brought special guests Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, and blues guitarist Celisse Henderson on for an incendiary version of “House of the Rising Son.” Jazz Fest is all about the collaborations and the fusion. I wasn’t there for this performance, but one of my sons attended. And we all get to experience it a little bit via this clip. |
