Daily Docket — Monday, May 8

Here are some updates you may have missed.

• Today, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it would release opinions on Thursday, May 11. The Court may release decisions in any of the cases already argued this term, including one of the major elections cases, Allen v. Milligan. However, we don’t expect a decision in Moore v. Harper, as additional briefing on the case is not due until 2 p.m. on that day.

• A judge allowed a lawsuit challenging Colorado’s signature matching process for mail-in ballots to continue. The plaintiffs argue that the process results in the disenfranchisement of tens of thousands qualified voters.

• In April, a judge permitted a lawsuit alleging that North Dakota's legislative maps violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act to go to trial. The trial is currently scheduled for June 12.
