Hi John,
Disturbing legislation attempting to ban immigrants from our community and others from owning property in Florida, Texas, and other states has been moving forward at a rapid pace in recent months. The bill in Florida just passed into law and was signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis today. This underscores the stakes: the Iranian-American community’s rights are on the line.
NIAC has been taking action and building a powerful coalition [[link removed]] of Asian American and civil rights allies to stop these measures in their tracks. Last week, The Intercept published a piece highlighting our campaign against this dangerous phenomenon.

As I say in the article, " this bill looks like the 21st-century version of the Alien Land Laws that targeted Asian immigrants in the 19th century. ” In Texas, we’ve built momentum and the bill’s main author has limited its scope twice already. But we can’t stop now - we have a chance to defeat the bill and prevent it from becoming law and harming immigrant communities.
And I meant it when I said we have to act now as this bill, and others like it are rapidly progressing and will continue to do so unless communities like ours speak out.
So, please, sign this petition [[link removed]] , spread the word about this campaign by forwarding this email to your network, and if you can, donate so we can have the resources to keep up this fight.
Let's keep standing together for justice and equal civil rights for all.
Thank you,
Ryan Costello
