The radical, far-right majority on the Supreme Court is determined to take away our rights, restrict our freedoms, and prevent progress across the government from taking place — all while they're surrounded by serious allegations of corruption.
Clarence Thomas — whose wife was directly involved in the insurrection to overthrow our government on 1/6 — has been taking private jet trips, overseas vacations, and real estate payments from right-wing billionaire Harlan Crow for decades. That same billionaire paid two years of private school tuition for a child raised by Thomas.
Now we've learned that that Clarence Thomas's wife was paid tens of thousands of dollars by Leonard Leo — a right-wing activist and THE architect of the conservative legal movement — who then tried to cover up the money!
John, Clarence Thomas must resign or be impeached.
This is what we should be pushing for nationally. I'm ready to fight for our freedoms against this radical court. If you can today, chip in so that I can keep up this fight every day in Congress.
In both their conduct and their decisions, the right-wing extremists on the Supreme Court are barely even trying to keep up an appearance of legitimacy. In case after case, they're finding every way to take away our freedom and destroy our democracy.
Last year, in Bruen v. New York, they said that New York can't write its own gun laws — but the next damn day said that states can write their own abortion bans in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health.
Clarence Thomas sees no problem with ruling on cases about the investigation into January 6th — even though his wife was involved in it!
And still, in cases this year, the Supreme Court could decide to block student debt relief, deny LGBTQ rights, end affirmative action, or further limit voting rights, just to name a few of the high-stakes decisions they could make.
This is all one story: It's corruption through and through. This out-of-control Supreme Court needs a progressive movement to stand up to their bullshit and demand they follow basic ethics and respect the will of the people. That's why I'm starting by calling for Clarence Thomas to resign or be impeached.
