I’ve heard from so many of you about your deep frustration with politics right now, and I am right there with you as we close out the 2023 legislative session.
Democratic leaders in the Legislature put people over politics and offered common sense ideas to improve the lives of Iowans. Those ideas were rejected by Kim Reynolds and Iowa Republicans who wanted to focus on divisive bills written by special interests, picking and choosing who gets to thrive in our state.
Iowa House Democrats released a plan last week to bring down costs for child care, housing, and prescription drugs as well as provide support for our rural communities.
That’s what real leadership is – understanding the needs of Iowans and responding with concrete, practical solutions to the challenges they face every day.
We conducted our Arab-American Constituency Caucus officer elections yesterday, and I look forward to welcoming Newman Abuissa to the State Central Committee as their new Chair. Congratulations also to the Veterans Caucus who elected Michelle Servadio Elias to be their new Chair last week.
Yours,
Rita Hart
