Today is a shameful day for our country.

Senate Republicans had an opportunity to stop Trump and protect our democracy, but they chose partisan cowardice over patriotism.

Our community made over a hundred thousand phone calls to Republican senators, urging them to put country over party and vote to convict and remove Donald Trump. But they didn't listen.

They ignored the will of the people, held a sham trial -- the first impeachment trial in U.S. history that did not include witness testimony -- and voted to acquit.

The Senate allowed a criminal to remain in the White House, so now it's up to us to remove him -- and hold Senate Republicans accountable for failing to protect our democracy.

Over the next nine months, Stand Up America will be ramping up our efforts to defend our democracy by registering voters and helping get the vote out in key states to defeat Trump, flip the Senate, and elect progressives to state legislative chambers.
