Indivisibles,

Bad news.

Moments ago, the Senate voted to acquit Donald Trump on both articles of
impeachment sent to them by the House. Not because Donald Trump is
innocent, but because Republican senators (with just one exception) are
guilty -- they are now full-fledged co-conspirators in Trump’s cover-up.
Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, and the GOP put party over country,
protecting Trump and their own power instead of protecting our democracy.

We’re not surprised, but we are angry.

Let’s be clear about this. This was not a trial, in which impartial jurors
heard the evidence for and against a defendant and made a reasoned
judgment about guilt or innocence. This was a cover-up, orchestrated by
the administration itself and carried out by Mitch McConnell and
Republicans in the Senate.

There will be a lot of thinkpieces on how this happened (short answer: the
GOP has been conspiring with the radical right and white nationalists for
decades to consolidate their own power), but here’s the truth: now that
the Senate has shown they won’t remove him, it’s up to us. Here’s what you
can do:

 1. [ [link removed] ]Sign up to contact voters in key states with the Payback Project.
GOP senators made their choice, opting to help with Trump’s cover-up
and refusing to hold him accountable for his numerous crimes. Now,
especially for those up for re-election this year, our job is to make
sure their constituents never forget this moment and vote them out in
November. That’s why we’re launching a peer-to-peer texting campaign,
where volunteers from anywhere can reach out to engage voters across
nine target states to take action with Indivisibles in their area and
mobilize locally to flip their Senate seats.

 2. [ [link removed] ]Vote on where we should buy an ad. We'd like to place full-page
newspaper ads in every state with a GOP senator to tell voters how
their senators prioritized party over country. But those ads cost a
lot (often over $40,000!), and we don't have the budget to do every
state -- so we're asking you to vote on which senator you'd like to
target with our first newspaper ad. [ [link removed] ]Then, donate to help fund this
ad and all our work.

 3. Text PAYBACK to 97779 to get all this election year’s breaking news
updates sent directly to your phone. We get news to you as it breaks
and text you how you can have the biggest impact, whether in the
presidential race, in congressional races, or at the state or local
level.

We’re going to fight like hell to put the power back in the hands of the
people this year. That means working to elect a new president -- no matter
who challenges Trump in the general election. It means expanding the
Democratic majority in the House and taking back the Senate -- with
particular emphasis on Mitch McConnell and all the Republican senators
who’ve trumpeted their willingness to betray their constituents.

It’s going to take a ton of work from Indivisibles all over the country,
from seasoned activists to folks who’ve never called a congressional
office. We’re going to have to canvass, and call, and text, and write
letters, and march, and do everything else we can think of to keep up the
fight. To fight back against Republican scheming, we’ll have to be, truly,
indivisible.

This impeachment trial was a gross miscarriage of justice, but it was not
our last chance to get rid of Trump. Let this be the fuel on the fire that
kicks our movement into high gear. Let it be the spark to do whatever you
can to fight for our democracy -- just like the 2016 election was the
spark for the Indivisible Guide that grew into so much more.

Let’s get started.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

Payback Project.
