Dear AFGE Activist,
AFGE is proud to represent 30,000 correction officers across the country. The work you do is incredibly tough and often times very dangerous. Despite being underpaid and understaffed you continue to show up everyday to fulfill the mission of your agency.
Through your union activism you continue to make meaningful changes to your working conditions and advocate for the safety of your fellow officers so that you can return home to your families each day. There is immense pressure on your shoulders and you continue to show up every day to keep our federal prisons running, to help rehabilitate and reintegrate inmates into society when possible, and to protect our communities from dangerous criminals bent on doing harm.
This week we are pleased to share a video message from AFGE National President Everett Kelley in honor of National Correctional Officers Week.
Thank you to the thousands of employees we represent at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Thank you for keeping our communities safe and for your service to our country.
In Solidarity,
AFGE
