Dear John,
On April 26th, San Bernardino County announced homelessness in the area has increased by 26% since last year. Additionally, almost 40% of county residents experiencing homelessness became homeless for the first time in the last year. Addressing our homelessness crisis is my top priority.
That's why I fought for and secured a total of $4 million in federal funding to support sustainable affordable housing and supportive services in San Bernardino.
I secured $3 million to support the creation of a resource center at the Arrowhead Grove housing community. This multi-faceted health campus will provide easy access to supportive services to any San Bernardino resident.
I secured $1 million for the Sustainable Communities Catalyst Project— to transform vacant lots into energy efficient homes for low-to-moderate income families. This funding will create and preserve affordable housing while revitalizing local neighborhoods.
In February, I announced $4 million for the City of Fontana to support the creation of new a housing and resource center.
This center will provide transitional housing and wrap-around services for up to 30 homeless individuals.
I will continue to fight for resources our community needs to tackle our growing homelessness crisis.
Thanks,
Pete Aguilar Member of Congress
