Dear John,
Today, Uber drivers will make history at Uber’s annual shareholder meeting. Uber is planning to celebrate record revenue – all while their business model continues to create a safety crisis for the drivers who generate that revenue.
But Uber drivers will be represented at Uber’s shareholder meeting too . Low pay and unfair termination practices are pushing drivers into dangerous situations, and they’re fighting back.
Uber has not taken meaningful steps to address the growing safety crisis for drivers while drivers are out here being threatened, assaulted, robbed, carjacked or worse. So last week, Uber drivers all across the country united in a coordinated action to call out Uber for using a business model that creates dangerous working conditions.

Now – for the first time ever – drivers are moving a floor resolution at Uber’s shareholder meeting that would require the company to address these issues. At today’s shareholder meeting, on behalf of drivers all across the country, Jocilyn Floyd – an Uber driver and Chicago Gig Alliance member – will present a resolution calling on Uber to pay drivers fairly and to end unfair terminations as two key ways to make driving safer.

Uber could create greater protections for drivers today – if they wanted to , and today drivers are going to remind them of that . Uber would not exist without drivers. Drivers are the ones who do the work, and drivers are the ones whose lives are at stake.
Together, we have greater power to push Uber to do the right thing by paying drivers fairly and ending unfair termination practices. Watch out for updates as drivers take their demands directly to Uber and their shareholders. Together, drivers will be heard.
