Republicans have voted to acquit Donald Trump after a sham impeachment trial where Chief Justice John Roberts proved once again that he isn’t a neutral umpire — he’s a party-line Republican and a member of Team Trump.

When we can’t trust the Chief Justice, it’s time to change the Supreme Court. That’s why there has never been a better time to invest in the movement to rebalance the power on the Supreme Court.

When Donald Trump admitted on camera to hiding evidence relevant to the trial, John Roberts helped him keep it hidden. When Mitch McConnell announced that he had no intention of upholding his oath to be an impartial juror, John Roberts let him get away with it. When he could have subpoenaed former National Security Advisor John Bolton, the Chief Justice — a supposed neutral instrument of our democracy — sided with Republicans and didn’t include Bolton’s testimony in the trial. John Roberts didn’t ensure a fair trial and is complicit in the acquittal of Donald Trump.

At every turn, John Roberts enabled Donald Trump’s abuse of power and now he’s going to walk back across the street and do the same thing at the Supreme Court. Now, Roberts will cast the deciding vote in cases ranging from whether Trump is allowed to break the rules to end DACA to whether Trump can keep his tax returns secret. The enabling of Trump’s abuse of power will never end unless we put a stop to it.

This is a people-powered movement to take back the Supreme Court from the far-right and special interests that John Roberts represents. We need your help to stop the Supreme Court’s conservative majority from covering even more for Trump.
