Last week, Kevin McCarthy bowed to GOP extremists and passed his Default on America Act -- a destructive bill that would force steep cuts to law enforcement, veterans, families, teachers, and kids.

Now they've issued an ultimatum: pass their Default on America Act, or they'll refuse to raise the debt ceiling and force us into a catastrophic economic default.

Republicans are holding our country hostage and trying to force us to choose between destroying our economy and their horrific demands.

This Republican bill would gut Medicaid for over 20 million Americans, rip away SNAP benefits for over a million recipients, and eliminate Pell grants for tens
of thousands of American students every year. It would cut our climate investments, ban student debt relief, and make it easier for the wealthy to cheat on their taxes. And it would cost our country 780,000 jobs by the end of 2024.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this bill would be a disaster for America. We need all Americans to understand what's at stake -- and that Republicans are threatening to destroy our economy to fulfill their extremist wish list.
