Dear Friend,
Last night’s State of the Union address made clear that there is no end to President Trump’s attacks on immigrants. He calls them “dangerous criminals” who “prey on the public,” reinforcing his agenda of hate. He could not be more wrong.
Immigrants make our country stronger with their ingenuity, passion, and optimism. Instead of demonizing them, let us celebrate the remarkable resilience of LGBTQ refugees. Let us turn the President’s cruel agenda on its head by clearing the way for asylum seekers to live safely and openly.
Stand with us against the politics of fear by making a gift to protect queer, trans, and HIV-positive refugees. If just 50 people donate $50, we can cover the $2,500 needed to take on a new client—and protect them from deportation.
The President shamelessly touted “historic cooperation agreements” with Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala—countries with some of the highest rates of anti-LGBTQ violence in the world. This policy forces people who escaped persecution based on their sexual orientation or gender identity to be deported right back to life-threatening conditions.
We cannot allow our community to be put in harm’s way. Every day, we work with LGBTQ refugees who escape brutal violence and seek protection in the United States. It is our privilege to sue the President on their behalf. It’s how we fight back, and we are only reinvigorated by his words.
Support our work to end the Trump administration’s anti-immigrant policies and defend asylum seekers. Donate $50 today so we can help another queer refugee escape persecution for good. Any gift—big or small—will help us save lives.
Let us be what we have always been: a country that finds its strength in diversity. A melting pot. A place where immigrants are welcomed, celebrated, and able to thrive. Together, we can—and we must—counter this dark moment in U.S. history with bold action.
Sincerely,
Aaron C. Morris, Executive Director
