When Joe Biden officially entered the 2024 race, the disclaimer at the end of his launch video said, “Paid for by the Democratic National Committee.”
Not “Paid for by Biden for President.” Paid for by the DNC.
This message is crystal clear: As far as the DNC is concerned, voters have no choice. The Democratic nominee has already been chosen for them.
But we don’t have kings in America, and the right to lead the nation is a privilege to be earned.
Marianne has always been a strong supporter of the democratic process. It’s the reason she stood up for so many progressive candidates in 2022, using her platform to lift up candidates who received no institutional support from the party.
John, Joe Biden is a historically unpopular incumbent. Only weeks into this race, the declared candidates for the Democratic nomination who are NOT Joe Biden are already netting nearly one third of the vote.
The political elite want you to feel defeated. They want you to check out of the process and clear the way for Biden’s reelection.
But we have faith that this movement is stronger than any hamfisted effort to silence our spirits or suppress our votes. We will not stand by as millions of our fellow Americans slip deeper into poverty, and politicians leverage the future of our planet for a pocketful of campaign donations from fossil fuel giants.
We believe in the resilient spirit and inherent goodness of our neighbors, and we know a new beginning is within our grasp.
