The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed groundbreaking new regulations on six highly toxic PFAS chemicals found in drinking water. This is a crucial first step toward tackling this massive public health crisis — but we need the EPA to do more to protect against PFAS.
Exposure to PFAS — known as "forever" chemicals because they are extremely resistant to breaking down in the environment — has been linked to a long list of health effects, including cancer, immune suppression, and developmental harm.
But every day, millions of people across the country drink water contaminated with PFAS. Unfortunately, PFAS are almost impossible to avoid. They are found in our homes, our offices, our supermarkets — practically everywhere. What's worse, manufacturers don't have to disclose to consumers that they're using them.
It needs to stop.
Submit a public comment to the EPA before the May 30th deadline urging the strongest possible protections from PFAS in our drinking water.
