Last night was not a State of the Union Address, it was a Trump campaign rally.

The most heartbreaking part of the President’s speech was the blatant lie that
he’s fighting to reduce healthcare costs and protect people with pre-existing
conditions. Actions speak louder than words, and the Trump Administration
is betraying seniors and hardworking Americans by arguing in court RIGHT NOW to
rip apart the Affordable Care Act.

In the middle of this fight, people like my guest at last night’s address, Ms.
Mary Richard, are being hit with the costs. Mary is 75 years-young and scrapes
by on a fixed income. Her struggles are all too common in the wealthiest
country in the world. She’s often forced to choose between paying for her
medicine or that week’s groceries in the face of exorbitant prescription drug
prices averaging over $400 per month for the medication she relies on.

Healthcare costs are too high and that is an issue that must be fixed! Last
December, the House passed legislation that would lower the costs of
prescription drugs and enhance Medicare benefits. This genuine legislation,
meant to help millions of Americans, is now collecting dust on the desk of
Mitch McConnell who refuses to bring the bill to a vote.

Why? Because President Trump isn’t actually interested in doing the very
things that he promised in his speech to help people like my guest Mary:
lowering prescription drug costs and protecting people with pre-existing
conditions.

If you’re as frustrated as I am about last night’s address and the President’s
inaction to serve the American people, donate to my campaign. In the most
competitive race in the battleground state of Nevada, a $10 contribution can
translate into the resources we need to win and continue fighting for
affordable healthcare forall Americans.
