We are officially in the home stretch of the legislative session. And despite being placed on the calendar in the House twice, legislation to end child gender mutilation has still not received a vote in the House. Last Tuesday, the Texas House of Representatives was slated to consider Senate Bill 14, which aims to outlaw the practice in Texas. It was postponed after Democrats called a point of order regarding an inaccuracy in the measure’s analysis. Moments before the bill was delayed, however, chaos erupted as leftist activists began chanting and waving a trans flag in the House gallery. They were kicked out of the gallery, but not before one of member of the mob—a man wearing a dress—exposed himself to lawmakers and other onlookers from the gallery. Republicans in the House said not to worry, and they moved quickly to fix the error and place the bill back on the calendar for Friday. But on Friday, the bill was again delayed due to a different error in the bill's analysis. It is now expected to be heard this week, though it has not been set on the calendar for Monday or Tuesday. The main concern among activists is not that the bill will not pass, but that others may be killed in the process. Every time a bill is delayed, it pushes other back as well.
