At the direction of President Trump, EPA Administrator and former coal
lobbyist Andrew Wheeler has put forth a plan to revoke the Clean Power
Plan, America's first-ever standards to reduce dangerous carbon
pollution from large power plants.
The toothless "replacement" plan offered by Wheeler has NO
limits on climate pollution and NO deadlines.
According to EPA's own scientists, revoking the Clean Power Plan
would cause up to:
* 3,600 premature deaths,
* 1,700 heart attacks,
* 90,000 childhood asthma attacks, and
* 400,000 missed days of work and school
-every year.
EPA's mission is to protect public health and the environment.
Full stop.
Rolling back and delaying standards that protect us from dangerous air
pollution is a failure of leadership that flies in the face of that
bi-partisan, 49-year tradition.
