THE FRONT LINES

News from the global fight for reproductive rights

Act Now

The Trump administration has proposed a rule that would attempt to roll back the Health Care Rights Law’s protections, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex in health care settings.

If the administration succeeds in rolling back the Health Care Rights Law…

  • A provider could refuse to treat an unmarried pregnant person because of their marital status.
  • A transgender person could be turned away because of their gender identity.
  • A patient could be denied treatment because a provider objects to whom they love or how they present themselves.

The public comment period on the proposed rule is now open, and we have until midnight on August 13th to submit as many comments as possible opposing it. The clock is ticking.

Submit an official comment to help prevent discrimination in health care.

On Our Docket

  • After a four-year-long fight, the High Court of Kenya issued a groundbreaking ruling declaring that the constitutional rights of Kenyan women and girls were blatantly violated by the unlawful withdrawal of the Standards and Guidelines on safe abortion.
  • We filed two new cases last week: one challenging Georgia’s 6-week abortion ban and another challenging a North Dakota law that would force physicians to lie to their patients by telling them that medication abortion can be “reversed.”
  • We filed a case challenging the discriminatory practice of forced pregnancy testing and expulsion of schoolgirls in Tanzania.
