Dear John,

I know this is short notice but it’s very important. Just today, the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy scheduled a hearing that we need you to attend.

In that hearing this Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. , four bills that address the toxic chemicals called PFAS will be discussed. Two of these bills, SB 772 & SB 773 help to address the growing PFAS problem. The other two bills, SB 774 & SB 775 , would delay efforts to set statewide health standards for PFAS.

Which set of bills moves forward to the full senate will depend on you!

We need a packed house at the State Capitol this Friday at 10 a.m., in Room 411 South to show strong support for the good bills, strong opposition to the bad bills, and to let legislators know how important fixing the PFAS pollution crisis in our state is to you.

SB 772 & SB 773 are important steps toward protecting Wisconsin from the terrible effects of PFAS including kidney and testicular cancer, hormone disruption, fertility and developmental issues, and immune system disorders.

All you need to do is show support for the good bills (SB 772 & SB 773) and oppose the bad ones (SB 774 & SB 775) . The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 411 South at the State Capitol . It’s advisable to get there a bit early to register your support and/or sign up to speak to the committee.

No matter what, the most important thing is for this committee’s members to see a strong showing from the conservation community.

WHAT: Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy public hearing on four PFAS bills
WHEN: Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Wisconsin State Capitol Room 411 South

If you need help preparing to speak or anything else, don’t hesitate to call me at 920-429-9008 or email me at [email protected]. I’ll be there, too, so if you need help Friday don’t hesitate to reach out to me there.

Again, sorry for the short notice. It’s how these things work sometimes, and we don’t want to let this opportunity to make a statement slip away. The future of our water is at stake.

Hope to see you in Madison on Friday!
