For those of us who believe in a fair and just immigration system, it is safe to say that President Trump’s State of the Union address was disappointing.

Today, many of us are saddened by the disconnect between rhetoric and reality and just how uncivil our public dialogue has become. The path forward may feel difficult, but we know there is more that unites us than divides us. Together we can realize our vision of a system that works for everyone.

With your support we will continue to stand up for:

• A fair asylum system for those seeking protection.
• Humane conditions in Customs and Border Protection facilities.
• Immigration laws and policies that fuel our economy and communities.

This year, the Council will continue its strategic legal efforts to address these issues. And we are equally committed to doing more to mend our country’s divides and change how we treat our fellow neighbors.

We will bring together litigation, advocacy, research, volunteer mobilization, and communications to plan and execute this work. Our unique collaboration lets us tackle an issue from a range of angles, increasing the opportunity to effect change in our laws and policies, in our communities, and in our hearts.
