John,
For the first time in almost a century, Social Security checks might not go out next month.
Why? Because Kevin McCarthy’s MAGA caucus is trying to dismantle our government, including closing Social Security offices. And if they don’t get their way, they’re threatening to send the United States into default.
A default would ripple through the global financial system, setting off a likely recession (if not depression), causing the US Government to be unable to meet some payments, including missing payments on Social Security checks for the first time in the program’s nearly 100 years of existence.
Social Security Works is on Capitol Hill every day, working to avert default and protect our Social Security benefits. Can you rush a $7 donation to support our work?
Thanks,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
