If you tuned out Trump's speech last night, I don't blame you.
He disgraced the occasion by turning the State of the Union
address into one of his campaign rallies.
Trump never misses an opportunity to divide the country and
yesterday was no exception. He believes the strength of America
derives not from our values, principles, and people -- but from
Donald Trump himself.

The speech was filled with misleading statements and outright
lies. Trump claimed he wanted to protect people with pre-existing
health conditions at the same time his Attorney General is in
court trying to dismantle the very law that includes such
protections.
He asked Congress to put a bill on his desk to reduce the prices
of prescription drugs -- but Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats
already have! Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans just refuse
to allow a vote on it.
And in the Senate, many bipartisan bills, like my DETER Act to
prevent Russian interference in our next election, languish even
though they could pass Congress. We need to raise the pressure on
the do-nothing Senate, and I need your help.

Instead of embracing a bipartisan agenda, President Trump laid
out short-sighted, divisive plans: Drill even more of the oil
that's ruining our climate. Undermine public education by
funneling taxpayer money to private schools.
After this speech and the Senate's failure to conduct even the
semblance of a real trial, one thing is clear: we will not make
any progress on our priorities until we take back both the White
House AND the Senate.
