john,

According to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, our nation could default on our debt as soon as June 1 if Congress doesn't act.

The consequences of defaulting on our debt are substantial. Moody's just released a report showing a default could result in the loss of over seven million jobs and create a financial crisis.

But instead of raising the debt ceiling – like Republicans voted to do three times during the Trump administration – Speaker Kevin McCarthy is holding our economy hostage. He's refusing to raise the debt ceiling unless we make draconian cuts to essential programs.

McCarthy's proposed bill would eliminate more than 81,000 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs jobs that service our veterans. In addition to slashing the VA, McCarthy's plan includes major cuts to education and health care. That's unacceptable.

Kim voted against Kevin McCarthy's reckless brinkmanship, but she wants to know what you think:

To win back the House majority, we must re-elect Rep. Kim Schrier in WA-08. Will you chip in to protect Kim's seat and reclaim the House majority in 2024?
