Hi Friends,

August 1st. This is the date that I always feel nostalgia for what is coming and what will be lost. Summer is still full-on, but fall is peeking around the corner. In Colorado, the garden tomatoes are just ripening.

Running for US Senate continues to be a fascinating experience and I am more invested than ever in this process. I have been writing a lot, I have published a few articles, I have been attending protests, I have been traveling all over the state, and I have still had a little time to attend to the garden, bees, chickens and ducks.

After watching the Democratic debates, I'm feeling inspired by the progressive energy taking the party by storm but I also recognize that our entire country is feeling a sense of trauma, disbelief and fear. I am confident that we will take back the presidency in 2020, but we also must flip the senate.

Though there is some overlap, interesting differences have emerged between myself and the other US Senate candidates in many different areas, but particularly in regard to climate.

For one, I believe that it is not enough to just share the message that something must be done about the climate crisis; we must act. I am the only person in the Colorado US Senate race who has actually worked in grass-roots climate activism and I believe this gives me a unique perspective to understand the enormity of the task at hand.

We must take on the fossil fuel industry and there is no amount of regulation that can protect us from the ill effects this industry creates.

The Green New Deal is only the beginning, and it is aspirational, so until it is legislated there can be no patting ourselves on the backs that we have taken action. I am the only candidate who is actively advocating for an end to fracking.

Please read and share my recent op-eds on how the oil and gas industry is using Colorado to profit despite egregious health impacts in the Daily Camera here, and how Colorado is beset by severe ozone violations in the Colorado Sun here.

I'm the only US Senate candidate from Colorado resisting fossil fuel dominance over our democracy, but I need your support to get the message out.  The media is largely focusing on the men in this race as they have been the large fundraisers but I believe that a progressive woman has a better chance against Cory Gardner this time around. To be successful, I am relying on your help!

Will you contribute to my campaign?

I'm In!

In solidarity,

Diana
