Hi There,
When I joined the U.S. Senate, the very first bill I introduced was the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act.
It was a bill to create a pathway to legal citizenship for more than 5 million essential workers who kept Americans healthy and fed and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that the federal COVID-19 public health emergency is coming to an end, we cannot afford to forget the sacrifices these workers made — and are still making — for our country.
That’s why I recently re-introduced the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act in the U.S. Senate.
This bill would provide undocumented essential workers in industries like health care, agriculture, child care, and more with a fast, accessible, and secure path to citizenship.
Immigration is not just a moral imperative — it’s also an economic one. When we expand pathways to permanent legal status for immigrants, our economy benefits.
And while no state has more at stake in immigration policy than California, the entire nation stands to benefit from modernizing our immigration system.
Undocumented workers are an essential part of our economy and deserve not only safety in the workplace, but dignity and a pathway to citizenship.
So thank you in advance for adding your voice to mine in support of this important bill. It means a lot to know you stand with me on this.
