[ [link removed] ]Former President Barack Obama is using his platform to call on us to invest
in critically important local races:
[ [link removed] ][IMG]
He’s 100% right! Some of the most influential and pivotal decisions that affect
our day-to-day lives aren’t decided by Congress or the President, but by local
and state legislators.

That’s why we need your help: Chris Hinds, Nina Ahmad, and
Dr. Eve Meltzer Krief are all running in pivotal local races that are expected
to be decided by a couple hundred votes in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and New York.

[ [link removed] ]Chris and Nina’s elections are just WEEKS away! Can we ask you to donate $3
DIRECTLY to these 3 Democratic scientists? Your support goes substantially
further in local races like these!

[ Chris ]Chris Hinds Chris Hinds is a computer scientist and public servant
running for Denver City Council. Chris made history in 2019 by becoming
the first Denver official at the local, state, or federal level, in
HISTORY who uses a wheelchair for mobility.

As a councilman, he’s championed climate action, public transportation,
housing, and making the city more accessible for all. This race is widely
expected to be decided by only a couple hundred votes.

Chris, who relies on a wheelchair for mobility, was forced to crawl onto a
debate stage in order to participate because the venue wasn’t wheelchair
accessible. If he didn’t participate, he would have been denied $125,00 in
public financing and have to effectively forfeit the election. Chris will
be on the ballot at the beginning of next month!

[ Dr. ]Dr. Nina AhmadDr. Nina Ahmad is a molecular biologist with a PhD in
Chemistry who launched the city’s Commission for Women (to address the pay
gap between men and women as well as address the harassment of women in
Philadelphia workplaces). She’s running for Philadelphia’s At-Large City
Council seat.

As a Deputy Mayor, Nina worked to bring government services to the people
in need of them most and fostered initiatives on pay equity and ending
workplace discrimination. Having a progressive like Nina on the city
council of one of America’s largest cities, will help us to address the
impacts of climate change and champion policies to reduce gun violence.

If elected, Nina would be the only scientist and only immigrant on the
city council. Nina has a proven track record of leadership and is just
weeks away from her May 16th primary.

[ Dr. ]Dr. Eve Meltzer-KriefDr. Eve Meltzer-Krief is a practicing pediatrician
running for the Suffolk County Legislature. Republicans just won a
majority over this legislative body two years ago. If Eve wins this
GOP-held seat in New York, we’ll be on track to retake the majority.

Eve has spent her career fighting for healthcare accessibility, pushing
gun safety laws, and combating food insecurity. Currently, she serves on
the Executive Council of the Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn chapter of the
American Academy of Pediatrics where she chairs the legislative advocacy
committee and sits on multiple committees and boards in her community.

The Suffolk County Legislature has a $3.7 billion annual budget (slightly
smaller than the state budget for Delaware) and is now controlled by
Republicans. The Suffolk County Legislature would benefit greatly to have
someone with Eve’s background in medicine and her commitment to protecting
reproductive rights.
