Happy National Small Business Week!   Irving, TX – On Monday, we celebrated the start of National Small Business Week. As the Chairman of the Small Business Committee's Oversight Subcommittee, I'm working to address the concerns raised by North Texas small business owners. During a recent committee hearing, I stood up for the more than 11,000 small business owners who signed an NFIB petition to stop a 5 percent tax increase proposed by the Biden Administration, who wrongly accused our small businesses of using tax loopholes. I’m fighting to save the American Dream through pro-growth policies that will cut bureaucratic red tape. Later, I returned to Parker University's campus in Dallas to discuss healthcare legislation before the Ways and Means Committee. I also met with the Healthcare Leadership Council and we discussed solutions to empower innovation in the healthcare space. Our community is home to world-class medical professionals and companies driving innovation. I appreciated meeting with Texas Oncology in Bedford on Tuesday and updating them on my work on the Ways and Means Committee while hearing how regulations impact their ability to serve their patients. I also toured Lucid Hearing’s facility in Fort Worth on Tuesday! North Texas plays an important role in supplying Americans with affordable hearing aids and I was so glad to see the innovative solutions they're working on. One of my favorite events of the year, the Congressional Art Competition reception, was held on Tuesday evening. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the accomplishments of our high school artists! Congratulations to our Grand Prize Winner, "Ollie," and our People's Choice Award Winners, "Snapshot" and "The Final Out." To view all the winners, please visit www.texas24art.com. I hosted a Healthcare Roundtable on Wednesday, which was attended by more than two dozen North Texas medical leaders. We discussed issues facing our healthcare industry and pragmatic solutions to expand access to affordable healthcare. Legislation begins by hearing from the people in North Texas and I'm eager to take their concerns back to Washington. I also met with the Fort Worth-based Community Healthcare of Texas to discuss my recent work to address hospice program integrity. Later, I toured the Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA) in Dallas. The STA plays an important role in saving lives through organ and tissue donation. I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the STA’s innovative approach and regulatory hurdles facing the organization. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Addison today to celebrate the opening of our brand new district office! It's been great to see so many of our North Texas neighbors and introduce them to our dedicated staff who are here to help navigate the federal government. Texas-24 Work of the Week I recently reintroduced the Ensuring Children Receive Support Act, which will help safeguard innocent children from neglect by requiring the State Department to revoke passports for people who choose not to make child support payments. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Anne Pottinger, who is a local leader in several non-profits, including the Freedom Mobility Foundation in Southlake and Holidays & Heroes in Fort Worth. Anne works to provide mobility equipment like track chairs to those in need. I want to thank Anne for going above and beyond for our North Texas veterans and military families. Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for our community? Nominate a Texas-24 Hometown Hero here. Rep. Van Duyne In The News Watch Rep. Van Duyne on Evening Edit Rep.
