Dear Fourth District Constituent,

I was briefed by Saint Paul officials this week on how the City has made it through the recent flood emergency. 

Thanks to the wise planning of the emergency management teams, our communities were well prepared for the spring flooding. I am grateful for all their hard work!

U.S. Service Academy Recognition Evening

On Tuesday, my office hosted a recognition evening for the Fourth District individuals who have received and accepted appointments to a U.S. Service Academy! This year there are seven people heading to a service academy from our district. It is an honor to nominate them, and I wish them all the best as they begin their studies and service.

The National Small Business Person of the Year is from Right Here!

I was pleased to welcome Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman to Minnesota this week to celebrate National Small Business Week and National Small Business Person of the Year Abdirahman Kahin. A well-deserved honor for such a beloved restaurant. We are huge fans of Afro Deli here in Saint Paul—what fun to be able to introduce it to the rest of the country! I’m celebrating Abdirahman Kahin and all the small business owners who make our community such a wonderful place to live.

Defending Human Rights

Today, I reintroduced legislation that would prohibit U.S. security assistance to Israel from being spent on human rights violations against Palestinian children and families. No child anywhere should go to bed at night fearing ongoing violence. There is a path to a peaceful future, and it requires leading with our U.S. values of democracy and equal justice for all.
