My work in TX-31 and Congress   Howdy Texan – It is a beautiful day in Central Texas! I wanted to take a moment to update you on this week's work across the district. ON THE DOCKET: Coryell County Mobile Office Hours Presenting the Carter A-Lister Award Growing Businesses in TX-31 Constituent Services Update THE BRIEF: For the 19th consecutive year, Texas was named the best state for business. U.S. job openings dropped to their lowest level in nearly two years in March and layoffs rose sharply. The Biden administration ignored a congressional subpoena for documents relating to the botched U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan for the third time. CORYELL COUNTY MOBILE OFFICE HOURS One of my top priorities is providing top-notch constituent services to the people of Texas' 31st congressional district. Yesterday, I hosted mobile office hours in Coryell County. Constituents were able to stop by and learn about the services my office offers, get assistance, and meet me and my team. PRESENTING THE CARTER A-LISTER AWARD I had the honor of celebrating the hard work of Central Texas student, Elise Fuselier, by surprising her at school with the Carter A-lister award. When I created the Carter A-lister award, it was students like Elise that I wanted to celebrate. She has given back to our community time and time again out of the goodness of her own heart. She created and hosted a fundraiser to raise money for a local elementary school’s Blessings in a Backpack program, recruited students to volunteer at a Stuff the Bus event, and raised money for the school district’s Special Olympics team. When I read her nomination, I knew she was deserving of this award. Congratulations, Elise. You embody exactly what the A-lister award was created to celebrate. GROWING BUSINESSES IN TX-31 I joined Loram at the groundbreaking ceremony of their Global Rail Technology Campus in Georgetown. Loram recognizes that our community is a great place to work, live, and raise a family, and that is why they chose to continue their business here. As Loram continues to grow here in Central Texas, I know they will find we have everything they need – lots of land, a skilled workforce, and a can-do spirit. Learn more here. CONSTITUENT SERVICES UPDATE As your voice in Washington, one of the most important parts of my job is helping my constituents with issues related to federal agencies. In April, my office assisted 183 Central Texas families and returned over $91,000 in back VA benefits, tax refunds and owed Social Security payments to constituents. I am here to serve my constituents! If you need assistance with a federal agency, please visit my website. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates. It is an honor and privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States House. Sincerely, John R. Carter Visit our website! WC Willamson County 4411 S I 35 Frontage Rd.
