fossil fuels are on notice

Dear

It's not possible for an email to encapsulate the gravity of the climate wins secured by the unrelenting efforts of our movement in the New York state budget that passed earlier this week.

Nor is it possible to adequately describe the exuberant spirit of our movement at this moment. However, we are going to give it our best try!

🏗 Building a Fossil Free Future 🌱

After years of organizing and teamwork as part of the Renewable Heat Now Coalition, we have passed the All-Electric Building Act!

This is a historic, first-in-the-nation accomplishment, tackling New York's single biggest source of carbon emissions and finally moving our state forward into the era of electrification.

And after years collective work as part of the Public Power NY Coalition, we have passed the Build Public Renewables Act!

This is another historic win, unleashing the public sector to build the renewable energy we need, in a major Green New Deal victory.

This isn’t all--we also won pieces of smaller but vital initiatives around green jobs, geothermal expansion, and more.

As always, there’s still more to be done. Now that we’ve proven that we really can win history-changing policies, we must make sure this is just the beginning.

So join us next week at our Renewable Heat Now Power Hour on Thursday, May 11, at 7 PM, with special guest, State Senator Liz Krueger.

There, we'll learn about our next step: ensuring the NY HEAT Act is passed. Because now that we're moving into the future, it's time to leave gas in the past for good.

In Solidarity
