Pure and simple, extremists don’t like it when young people vote.

Youth voters turned out in record numbers in the last midterm elections, and their momentum is only getting stronger. At the same time, some political strategists are also trying everything in their power to make it harder for young people and college students to vote.

They’ve proposed bills that would ban student ID cards as a form of voter identification, roll back preregistration for teenagers, make absentee voting more difficult for students, and even eliminate college polling places.

This coordinated attack on the voting process makes it clear: keeping young people from voting is part of the anti-democracy playbook.

Fair Fight Action is working alongside young people and college students who are passionate about making their voices heard. But we need your support to ensure that casting a ballot is an easy process for eligible young voters — not an even harder process. If you’re able, can you chip in $20 or anything you can to power this work? [[link removed]]

Just last month, we saw a surge in youth turnout in Wisconsin for their Supreme Court election. In one of the main polling locations for college freshmen, over 500 voters cast their ballots compared to the 44 votes cast in the same location in 2019. Overall, turnout surpassed 36% of the voting-age population, exceeding the 2011 34% high.

This turnout further illustrates the importance of protecting access to the ballot box for our youth. That’s why Fair Fight Action was proud to deploy our voter engagement task forces alongside partners to defend against extremist attacks and ensure voters and election workers knew their rights in Wisconsin.

Since college students as a demographic are disproportionately affected by anti-voting attacks, we’re advocating for policies like on-campus voting, weekend voting, and expanded hours on college campuses across the country to ensure they can make their voices heard.

Please make a $20 donation today to help ensure we have the resources needed to keep up this work to protect access to the ballot box for our youth in the months ahead. [[link removed]]
