Using essential services and federal assistance programs as bargaining tools is unacceptable.

Over the past few weeks, Republicans in Congress have been negotiating a budget proposal that threatens to default on our loans for the first time in history. 

This would devastate our economy and the people of Sacramento County who rely on essential services like SNAP and veteran care.

As your Representative in Congress, I will only support a funding package that provides for working families in Sacramento County without using social security, economic uncertainty, or cuts to education as bargaining chips. We must find common ground to move our country forward and make progress for the American people.

Over the course of several days, my staff and I met with groups to discuss and coordinate how our federal and local governments could best work together for our region.

2024 Community Project Funding Requests

Each year, the House Appropriations Committee allows members of Congress to submit Community Project Funding requests to recommend targeted funding to qualified projects in their congressional districts based on their knowledge of the needs of the communities they represent. 

Congressman Bera submitted 15 projects to the House Appropriations Committee for FY 2024 Community Project Funding consideration.
