Dear John,
Yesterday, Uber drivers across the country united in coordinated action for fair pay, safer working conditions, and an end to unfair deactivations. Just days before Uber’s annual shareholder meeting, drivers called out how Uber’s unfair pay and termination practices push drivers into dangerous working conditions. Drivers shouldn’t have to risk their lives to put food on the table. Together, they’re demanding better.

So rideshare drivers took action in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and New York. Check out these dispatches from the ground 👇 |
At Denver International Airport, over 250 drivers with Colorado Independent Drivers United went on strike, taking over the rideshare lot to demand Uber be more transparent about how much they’re taking from drivers on each ride, and to provide a fair process to appeal unfair deactivations — despite Uber’s vocal opposition.

In San Francisco, a long line of drivers with Gig Workers Rising and California Gig Workers Union filled the streets surrounding Uber’s headquarters. In Los Angeles, Rideshare Drivers United and California Gig Workers Union caravanned through LAX. In New York and Seattle, more drivers with the New York Taxi Workers Alliance and Drivers Union shared their stories of unfair deactivation, and affirmed their commitment to win just cause and due process at Uber.
From coast to coast, drivers are rising up to demand better from Uber. And they’re not stopping there. In just a few days, we are taking this fight directly to Uber’s shareholder meeting. Watch out for more updates as drivers continue to lift up their voices. Together, we can make Uber pay what they truly owe and win drivers the respect they deserve.
