The First Lady welcomed Virginians to the Executive Mansion to honor the National and Commonwealth Days of Prayer. Did you know the idea for the National Day of Prayer was initiated by Conrad Hilton, founder of Hilton Hotels, which is now a Virginia-based company? Mr. Hilton first proposed the idea for the legislation in 1952, and years later, a 1988 bipartisan effort allowed President Ronald Reagan to sign May’s National Day of Prayer into public law.
