With results from the Iowa Caucus still coming in, Bernie Sanders has received more votes in the first and second rounds of voting than any other candidate.

Friend,

With results from the Iowa Caucus still coming in, Bernie Sanders has received more votes in the first and second rounds of voting than any other candidate. And in caucus sites with larger immigrant, Latinx, and Muslim American voting populations, Bernie is dominating—in some cases winning with 94% and 99% of caucus-goers.1

Together, we’re building the most diverse coalition of voters that Iowa and the country has seen.

Change is coming. People are hungry for it. This strong showing is a sign that our progressive agenda is what Americans want, and it’s what the Democratic Party needs to adopt.

Sign the petition to the DNC: Include our progressive agenda in the 2020 Democratic Party platform, including Medicare for All and key components of the Green New Deal.

Our vision for justice for all is not only morally necessary, but it’s also a winning message. People are clearly rejecting the status quo that puts corporate greed above human lives. People want change… and in fact, Amo (Uncle in Arabic) Bernie is helping people believe again that they have the power to change the world.

Knocking on doors and meeting people at rallies for Bernie in Iowa, I saw people’s hope and enthusiasm for a truly representative democracy, where we all have a voice in shaping policy that works for all of us.

Bernie & Rashida together with Green New Deal activists

It’s time for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to fully embrace the Bernie Sanders wing of the party.

Every four years, the Democratic Party puts together the party platform, the ideas that we agree symbolize our party’s values and policy priorities.

Back at the 2016 DNC Convention, Medicare for All wasn’t included in the party platform because it lost by one vote.2 In the past four years, the progressive vision of Bernie Sanders has kept growing in popularity and urgency. It’s time the party platform gets an update to reflect where the country is at—and where our party needs to be.

Sign the petition to the DNC: Include our progressive agenda in the 2020 Democratic Party platform, including Medicare for All, a just transition to clean energy by 2030, and a federal jobs guarantee.

Medicare for All (government-run, single payer, universal healthcare coverage) is very popular, despite insurance corporations spending millions on lobbying and disinformation campaigns, including $5 million in Iowa this election cycle alone.3

In our current system, people are dying, because they have to choose between taking their life saving medications and putting food on the table for their families. Even with the much-celebrated ACA, millions more people are going without health insurance each year.4

Record numbers of cosponsors supported Amo Bernie and Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s Medicare for All bills in the Senate and House last year. These policies would expand Medicare to cover prescription drugs, vision, dental, long-term care services like nursing homes, and reproductive health services—all without any monthly premiums, copays, or deductibles.

These policies recognize that healthcare is a human right, not a privilege for those who can afford it.

We must enshrine that right, as well as the right to breathe clean air and drink clean water, in our Democratic Party platform.

Add your name to tell the DNC: Include our progressive agenda in the 2020 Democratic Party platform.

I look forward to accomplishing our vision together.
