The National Review: How to Solve the Pension Problem Defunding America’s Cities ([link removed])

Author: Jordan McGillis and Daniel DiSalvo

Pull Quote: “Ultimately, pension reform would help current city workers by decreasing layoff risks and serve the public by maintaining public services. Human capital — including city workers and the general public — has played a key role in the urban flourishing of the past two decades, and the future of America’s cities depends on preserving it. Pension reform can help.”

LA Daily News: Mayor Karen Bass must focus on boosting housing, not lamenting some vacant apartments ([link removed])

Author: Thomas Irwin

Pull Quote: “Moreover, more vacant units on the market means tenants have more leverage to negotiate good deals with their landlords. If we want to ensure all people (especially the vulnerable) can access the necessities they need, we need a society with markets that produce more than simply “enough” goods; we need abundance.”

The Hub: What Do ‘Neoliberal Shills’ Believe in 2023? ([link removed])

Author: Geoff Russ

Pull Quote: “It’s a bunch of centre-left people advocating for centre-left pragmatic ideas,” says Stone regarding the CNL…“Free markets, but also recognizing the need for a strong social safety net because markets sometimes have benders.”

Reason: Immigration Should Be as Easy for Everyone As It Is for NBA Players ([link removed])

Authors: Jordan McGillis and Daniel DiMartino

Pull Quote: “America's population is less than 5 percent of the world's total. There are millions more talented people living outside the U.S. than inside. Attracting the world's top talent in every field isn't just good for America's economy, it's also the most powerful tool to deprive rivals like China of economic brainpower.”

Politico: A Very Theatrical Bitcoin Bet Collapses ([link removed])

Authors: Derek Robertson

Pull Quote: “Jeremiah Johnson, co-founder of the center-left Center For New Liberalism and a staunch believer in old-fashioned fiat currency, proposed another explanation in a blog post ([link removed]) published this morning. Johnson suggests that another power inspired the doomed quixotic bet — a power strong enough to propel presidents into office, to sidetrack Mars-minded moguls and to end era-defining artists’ careers. The power of posting.”

Golden Statements: Burn CEQA to the Ground! ([link removed]) Authors: Golden Statements

Pull Quote: “CEQA is a broken law. It is failing to protect the environment when it comes to things like housing construction and deploying renewable energy. It should be scrapped completely and replaced with a framework of narrow and specific environmental regulation that is able to balance protecting what we have with building what we need.”
