Dear John,
Our wild places and cultural sites are under attack! In March, Trump’s Bureau of
Land Management (BLM) plans to sell off thousands of acres of wildlife habitats
in Utah for oil and gas drilling.
The lands for sale are on the doorstep of Dinosaur National Monument. New
drilling in these areas could destroy wildlife habitats and destabilize the
fossil sites the monument is famous for.
The good news: This lease sale isn’t final. Together, we can still demand the
BLM keep these lands protected. Now is the time to make your voice heard to
protect Dinosaur National Monument!
Take action now: Tell the BLM to stop Big Oil from destroying Utah’s lands and
wildlife!

Dinosaur National Monument received its monument designation from President
Woodrow Wilson in 1915. It protects thousands of irreplaceable fossils that are
critical to our natural history and to paleontologists. It’s one of the oldest
archaeological sites in the U.S.
The proposed lease sale would irreversibly damage these sites -- which locals
rely on for a robust tourist economy. What’s more, the fracking technique used
in Big Oil and Gas projects will threaten the health of local communities.
Extracted fracking wastewater can be radioactive, and its disposal through
injection wells has proven to increase earthquakes.
We can’t let Big Oil destroy these ecologically rich historical landscapes just
so it can increase its profits.
Sign your name: Help protect Dinosaur National Monument from future drilling and
fracking!

Right now, climate-harming emissions from public lands account for nearly a
quarter of the U.S. total. Yet the Trump Administration has made no effort to
protect our wildlife and public lands from greenhouse gas emissions by halting
drilling. Instead the administration wants to open even more lands to pollution
and devastation.
The BLM’s proposed leases will pose an unacceptable safety and health threat to
the people who live on the surrounding land. It could even damage some of the
best remaining habitats for iconic wildlife species like the sage-grouse.
Together we’ve stopped the Trump Administration’s giveaways to Big Polluters
before. Now, we need your help again.
Help send 25,000 comments to the BLM: Tell the agency to protect threatened
wildlife and cancel this lease sale now!
