April was a busy month for ASA! Between Washington state, Colorado, and Rhode Island, there was a lot of suppressor related activity at the state level. In DC, ASA was on hand for the CSF Congressional Clays Competition. And last, but certainly not least, there has been movement in Anderson v Raoul – the ASA Foundation and Silencer Shop supported case that’s working to overturn Illinois’ unconstitutional ban on suppressors.

UPDATE: Since filming our April Policy Update, a Federal bill to ban suppressors has been reintroduced in Congress. There have also been several updates to the Anderson v Raoul case. We will be posting video updates in the coming days.

OLYMPIA, WA - On April 25th, Governor Jay Inslee signed House Bill 1240 into law, making Washington one of the most restrictive states when it comes to guns. Thankfully, the new law, which is undeniably unconstitutional, doesn’t outright ban suppressors. However, it does ban threaded barrels and suppressors on almost any semi-automatic rifle or pistol. We are working with our industry and Second Amendment partner organizations to ensure this massive overstep is properly challenged in court, and will provide updates as things progress.
