Tune in for May virtual events with our Global Partners!
[[link removed]]
We have two exciting virtual events taking place this month, and we hope you'll join us for both of them!
On Tuesday, May 9 th , the Page Turners Book Club is hosting Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka to talk about this meeting's reading selection, her book Walking with Gorillas: The Journey of an African Wildlife Vet.
As Uganda’s first wildlife veterinarian, Dr. Gladys has devoted her life to protecting endangered mountain gorillas and other wild animals, and her new memoir chronicles her journey from her animal-loving childhood to her current role as Founder and Executive Director of Conservation Through Public Health (our earliest Global Partner!).
And on Wednesday, May 24 th , we're proud to once again host Dr. Marni LaFleur and Dr. Seheno Cordaunt-Andriantsaralaza of our Global Partner, Madagascar-based Lemur Love. Drs. LaFleur and Courdaunt-Andriantsaralaza will share photos and success stories about their work to conserve ring-tailed lemurs in Madagascar, build capacity with Malagasy scientists, and foster relationships with people living in and around lemur habitats. Through dedicated community engagement, Lemur Love forges connections that transcend boundaries and foster a shared sense of responsibility for the protection of our natural world.
Register for each event below!

PopEd Quarterly Theme: Outdoor Education
[[link removed]]
Studies show that being in nature can boost your mood, reduce stress levels, improve focus, and promote better sleep. Yet in the typical education setting, children are in the school building for 7 hours a day, with only a short break for recess. It’s no wonder many educators feel confined to the walls of their classrooms. Outdoor education aims to change all that by promoting experiential learning in, about, or through the outdoors.
This quarter, our Population Education program explores all the ways teachers can use the outdoors to engage their students. As always, offerings include free classroom lessons and resources that educators can use to connect this timely topic to their state teaching standards.
