House Republicans recently passed a bill with a razor-thin margin that cuts billions of dollars in life-saving public benefits and overturns President Biden’s greatest accomplishments, all because MAGA Republicans demand to raise the debt ceiling.
They want to cut SNAP benefits and Medicaid, repeal hundreds of billions of dollars in clean-energy subsidies, rescind IRS funding, and make the student debt crisis permanent—all simply to raise the debt ceiling which would enable the U.S. to pay debts that congressional spending has already incurred.1

Despite our work confronting a historically dangerous threshold for global warming and the climate crisis, McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and their Republican cronies want to slash Biden’s historic investments to fight climate change.3
We must do everything we can to urge Republicans to defend programs that serve everyday people, not slash these essential programs as part of an extreme MAGA agenda.

They’re eager to sell our livelihoods and future so they can line their pockets with their corporate backers’ money.
But here's the thing: there are Republicans who know how unpopular these proposals are. If they hear loud-and-clear that their constituents are watching, pressuring them, and ready to call them out, they will break from Republican leadership and allow the U.S. to pay its debts without holding essential programs hostage.
