For the first time in history, we have gained majority control of a council. This isn't just historic for the Green Party of England and Wales, this is the first Green majority run council outside a small suburb of Melbourne. 

This ground breaking moment happened in Mid Suffolk, where co-leader Adrian Ramsay is standing to become a Green MP in the next General Election. With 18 seats won in total and potentially more to come, this is an overwhelming success.

These historic results show that now is the time to join the Green Party

Speaking from the victorious count for Mid Suffolk council, Green Party co-leader Adrian Ramsay said:

 “Let the significance of this result sink in - this is not only the first time ever that a Green Party has taken majority control of a local authority in the UK, but the first time anywhere in the Northern hemisphere.”

The results today are surpassing even our best expectations. They are laying the foundations for General Election breakthroughs where we will be able to add new MPs in places like Waveney Valley as well as Bristol, Suffolk and Herefordshire.
