** Brilliant buses, terrific trains!
------------------------------------------------------------
Hello
I'm writing to tell you about two things we're rather excited about here at Campaign for Better Transport. The first is a new competition celebrating bus travel, with the fantastic prize of a £250 voucher for Canopy & Stars. And the second is a video we've made with a celebrity who is a big fan of rail journeys...
** Enter our NEW bus journey competition
------------------------------------------------------------
Earlier this week, we closed our epic bus journey competition, which challenged people to travel as far as possible using three £2 buses. The winner was the brilliant Adham Fisher from Leicester, who made an impressive trip - 93 miles as the crow flies - from Swindon to Cambridge. Adham is known as 'the Extreme Commuter' for his public transport stunts around the world - read about him in our new blog ([link removed]) .
Adham on a bus "The £2 fare cap is marvellous. It has evidently made more people travel more and further by bus. I hope it stays, or that something similar can be implemented in the longer term."
- Adham Fisher
Long-distance journeys can be great fun, but mostly we use buses for short, everyday journeys – getting to work or college, running errands or having a night out. And that’s what our NEW competition is about.
This time, we're asking you to share a bus journey you have made on social media. It can be a simple everyday journey, and the competition is quick and easy to enter.
The fabulous prize is a £250 voucher for a sustainable getaway with Canopy & Stars. From shepherd's huts to safari tents, treehouses to tipis, Canopy & Stars is a collection of inspiring places to stay around Britain. And Canopy & Stars promotes sustainable travel to its places, with advice on how to get there by bus or train where possible.
So go on, tell us about your bus journey and a gorgeous, green getaway could be waiting for you!

** Video with Jenny Agutter: where could the train take you?

Watch our video voiced by Jenny Agutter, There's a train to get you there
Rail is a fantastic way to travel and also one of the greenest. As summer approaches, we hope our new video will inspire people to take a trip by train. The video is voiced by Railway Children and Call the Midwife star Jenny Agutter, our patron, who told us:
Jenny Agutter "Train travel has always been my favourite way to get about. Even the shortest journey feels like an adventure. No pressure, just a chance to read, catch up on emails, look out at the countryside or city views, and arrive relaxed and ready for work or a holiday. And taking the train helps tackle air pollution and climate change, too."
- Jenny Agutter
Wishing you happy journeys and an enjoyable bank holiday weekend
Paul
