Running for Senate wasn't an obvious choice for me. I'm not a politician, I have two little kids, and look: most things that go on in Washington really make me mad. So I want to tell you a little more about why I decided to run (if you're already on board, you can make a donation here).

Senator Cornyn is an entrenched incumbent who's spent almost two decades in Washington serving the special interests and DC bosses like Mitch McConnell. Now he has more than $12 million in a war chest funded in part by Big Pharma, the gun lobby, and the private prison industry.

I don't expect him to put Texas first anytime soon. That's why I had to get into this race. Will you pitch in now to help us reach every undecided voter we can before voting begins in the Texas primary, and head into the next phase of the campaign in the strongest position possible?

In the last few years alone, Sen. Cornyn voted to rip health care away from millions of Texans, voted against a bill that would've lowered prescription drug prices, and refused to support any meaningful action on gun violence -- including measures that the vast majority of Texans approve of -- even after horrific mass shootings in our own state.

I intend to do things differently. I will fight for you tooth and nail every single day. My votes will always be based on what's best for Texans, not who's writing the biggest campaign checks. As the only political outsider in the race and a working mom who has personally faced the struggles of everyday Texans, you can be sure of that.
