News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

Last week, Mothers United Against Violence (MUAV) joined me in Washington, D.C. to advocate for ending gun violence in our community and across the country. MUAV stands on the frontlines of the fight against gun violence every single day and supports victims and their families in the process. I was honored to join with them as they met with national leaders and spoke at the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force press conference. You can watch the press conference here.

On Wednesday, I joined MUAV to announce $500,000 in new federal funding for their Victim Impact Project to support victims of violent crimes in the Greater Hartford area as they work with their local police departments. It was my honor to champion their funding request in Congress because the Victim Impact Project is a proven model for the nation on how communities can come together to offer trauma support when tragedy strikes.

Together, with support from groups like Mothers United, we can and must address the epidemic of gun violence in our nation. No child should go to school in fear, no American should go to the movies or the grocery store in fear, and no one should feel unsafe in their own neighborhood. To follow what I’m working on both in Washington and in Connecticut, visit my Facebook page, follow me on Twitter, or follow me on Instagram.
