Kevin McCarthy's reckless proposal is a reminder of what happens when the person holding the gavel doesn't put Americans first, team.

We should pay our bills and raise the debt ceiling just like we did during the Trump Administration. Instead House Republicans voted to pass Kevin McCarthy's disastrous debt ceiling bill which threatens to cut crucial programs that working families and veterans rely on.

Chris knows that the debt ceiling should never be used as a bargaining chip. That's why he voted against this recklessly partisan bill that would enact a 22% cut in non-defense spending.

Moody’s Analytics released a report that estimated there would be 780,000 fewer jobs at the end of 2024 if the House GOP plan became law. And the Department of Veterans Affairs has said these cuts would result in 81,000 fewer jobs in the department’s health services. These cuts are completely unacceptable.

If you agree we must avoid default without holding our economy and support for veterans hostage, add your name to Chris's petition today → [link removed]
