John,

The North Carolina State Legislature has officially passed a bill further restricting access to abortion. I’m reaching out today not only as Wiley’s Finance Director, but as a woman and a North Carolinian.

For decades, women have fought for the right to make their own choices about their bodies. But now, in a post-Roe world, we’re facing a dark and uncertain time where these hard-won rights are being steadily taken away. It's heartbreaking to see our voices silenced and our bodies controlled by politicians who don't know us, our struggles, or our needs.

This bill will severely limit women's access to reproductive healthcare. It puts a ban on abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy, a 20-week ban in cases of rape or incest, and a 24-week ban for life limiting diagnoses.

Women seeking an abortion after the first trimester for one of the approved circumstances will be forced to see an ultrasound and have a 72-hour counseling session ahead of the procedure. As if the trauma they went through wasn't enough.

Wiley has stood with North Carolina women against this bill, and he will keep fighting for us to have autonomy over our own bodies. Chip in to his campaign today to help him keep up the fight.

The fact that this bill passed at all is alarming, but the fact that it passed so quickly and easily truly shows just how little the representatives in North Carolina care about my rights and the rights of my fellow North Carolinian women. This is a huge step backward for reproductive rights, and it is past time to take action.

If you’ve been waiting to get involved in our race, take today’s decision as a sign that now is the time. We must support pro-choice leaders at every level of government. We need fierce defenders of reproductive rights, and representatives who will fight for women to make their own decisions about their bodies and their futures. Wiley has and will continue to fight to protect the right to choose and ensure that every woman has access to the healthcare she needs.

But we can't do this alone. Can you rush in a donation today to help fund our grassroots efforts, reach voters, and make sure that our voices are heard and our values are being fought for?

Today's decision does not reflect the North Carolina I know and love. These representatives do not reflect the values I stand for. We need to ensure that this dark time in our state’s history, where women’s bodies are controlled by the government and their lives and livelihoods are in danger, is not the long-term story we tell.

Thank you for your support.
