Yesterday, Summer joined as a co-lead to help introduce the Closing the
Meal Gap Act.

At a time when Republicans are shamelessly legislating to steal away food
assistance from almost 100,000 women, children, and seniors in
Pennsylvania, Summer is fighting to not only protect but also expand SNAP.

The Closing the Meal Gap Act would improve food security for millions,
expand SNAP to the people of Puerto Rico, and help move closer to ending
hunger in the United States.

Growing up Summer and her family depended on food stamps. She knows
firsthand that SNAP is an anti-hunger lifeline for everyday people — from
older folks and veterans to disabled folks, struggling parents, students,
unemployed and underemployed people. That's why she's been fighting
against the GOP's starvation agenda to restrict SNAP since day one.
